Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you all have a fun and safe night. I'm at NIU to celebrate with some friends. It's raining, but I know it will still be a fun night.

My "It Bag"

Today I went to Northbrook Court and along with buying pieces for my work wardrobe, I spotted my It Bag. I found it at Kate Spade and the bow and blush color literally stopped me in my tracks. I had to see it: $398. It is so me with a big bow and my favorite shade of pink. I gave my information to an associate so I can be informed of any upcoming store sales. (Black Friday!) I don't think I've ever found a bag that is so my style. Maybe Santa will get it for me for Christmas ;)

Life in Heels

I found this great video from Garance's blog on why women wear heels and how it feels in them throughout the day. I love a good high heel and the way it makes you feel feminine and confident with each step. I wear heels every day to work and even though my toes hurt at times, they really do put the whole outfit together. I feel like I am ready to work when I have them on. When I go out, I like to wear a five-inch heel. However, a three-inch heel is more suitable to work and walk comfortably. How do you feel when you wear high heels? What heel height do you prefer?

Sneak Peak ;)

Here's a sneak peak at what I'm going to be for Halloween this year:

"Alive" By Krewella

Jahan Yousaf

I'm going to dress up as Jahan Yousaf from Krewella! Tomorrow, I plan on making my outfit for Thursday night. So far, I'm think of lots of black with glitter, straight hair, red lipstick, heeled boots and possibly a Chicago hat to represent my ultimate-favorite Chi-town based group!

Sunday Shopping List

This week, I plan on heading to BCBG to expand my work wardrobe. Since Herve Leger is a higher-end store off of BCBG, I get a generous discount. We are required to wear black, white or gray to work. My wardrobe typically consists of black pants, a white top (usually with lace detailing) and a black blazer. I also have a black dress for work, but lately it's been cold for a dress, even with tights. Accessories can really help make your black and white outfit stand out and my favorite are hanging earrings.

I'm thinking about buying some new tops, possibly a new blazer and some black pants. Here's what I have on my shopping list so far...

All pieces are from BCBG

Hope they have these items at the store! Which piece do you like the best?

Pumpkin Carving Party

Every year, our neighbors across the street host an Annual Pumpkin Carving Party. It's so fun to get the neighborhood together and get festive for Halloween. We carve pumpkins, eat some treats, drink some "witch's brew" hot chocolate, have a potato sack race, catch up on the past year, have a bonfire and a special hide-and-seek when it gets late at night. I'll be stopping by after work today and am really excited to catch up with everyone. What are your plans for the weekend? Did you carve your pumpkins yet?

Investment Piece

Working at a high-end clothing store, I have to say that these pieces are really an investment. It makes me think how far people will go to get a certain dress they love or receive it as a gift. Do people work hard for a $1,000 dress they are buying or are they lucky enough for their husband or boyfriend to buy it for them? Working at Herve Leger makes me think about my future and how far I will go to reach my investment piece. Whether it is a designer dress, car or vacation, I plan on working hard to accomplish my goals and dreams. What are your current investment pieces?

Throwback Thursday: Halloween Costumes

Halloween is only a week away! It's always fun dressing up as someone else for a night. For today's throwback, I wanted to share my costumes the past 3 years.

In 2010, I was Lady Gaga. I wore a gold dress with a black blazer, black leggings, silver bracelets, a long necklace, black heels and to top it off: an official Lady Gaga wig with Lady Gaga sunglasses. My friend, Mayra, dressed up as Lady Gaga as well that year!

In 2011, I was a flight attendant. I wore a silky black dress with gold detailing and a tie on the very front. I added a pilot's hat and some beige boots for a fun night. My friend, Courtney, dressed up as a nurse that year.

In 2012, I was Snow White. I wore a Snow White dress with a blue choker, white petticoat, gold bracelet, black/gold waist belt and beige bow pumps. I tried fake eyelashes for the first time that night to complete a "fairy tale" look. Courtney dressed up as a school girl. :)

What are your Halloween plans this year? Do you make your own costume or do you prefer to buy one?

Pumpkin Farm

Today I went to Goebbert's Pumpkin Farm with one of my best friends, Sabrina. We took a lot of pictures with pumpkins in our fall outfits. I tried an apple cider donut in cinnamon sugar. Yum! We both ended up wearing our brown riding boots, unplanned. ;) It was a rather cold day so I chose to wear my favorite blue pea coat, a brown sweater, dark boot-cut jeans and black bow gloves that came in handy for picking out the perfect pumpkin. I came home with a baby pumpkin that is sitting by my laptop right now. Halloween is just around the corner. What will you be dressed as for Halloween?

Fashion Icons

I have a couple fashion icons that I look up to for inspiration: Anna Dello Russo, Giovanna Battaglia, Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, Lauren Conrad and Audrey Hepburn. I love classic lady-like looks and these women all know how to dress with an effortless style. A fashion icon could be anyone from an actress, singer, model, author, designer or even a family member. It's helpful to find an icon that has a similar body type to you, so it's easy to incorporate looks for yourself.
Have you found your fashion icon(s) yet?

Black on Black

Yesterday at work, I got a chance to try on an Herve Leger outfit. Here I am wearing a black bandage zip-up top, black bandage skirt and black pumps. The outfit is easy and fun! When looking at the outfit, it actually looks like a little black dress. You can never go wrong with an all black outfit. It's fun to add a touch of color with accessories, shoes or even make up. If you are having trouble picking out an outfit, try an outfit with the same color palette. Adding your own pop of color to it is completely up to you. Stay classy!

Fall Transition

I recently cleaned out my closet from spring/summer to fall/winter. It's getting colder and coat and boot season has arrived. I'm happy to be able to wear skinny jeans with boots again. Over the summer, I bought a super dark pair of skinny jeans from American Eagle. A couple weeks ago, I bought a great pair of riding boots from DSW. I was supposed to buy a pair of heels for work but walked out with a pair of boots instead. Hey, it happens. ;)
TIP: If you find something you love, buy it because it might not be there the next day.

What's your favorite fall look right now?

Olivia ❤

From Day to Night

Sometimes there are days where you want to go out straight from work in order to save time and just rewind form work right away. There are pieces from work that can work right into night life, for instance, a little black dress. I recently purchased one from H&M and it's extremely versatile. For work, I put a black blazer over it with some black pumps. For night, I simply switch my blazer to a lacy leather jacket and my lace bow heels. Notice how I kept my same necklace and it works both ways. These little adjustments make life a little easier and gives you more time to enjoy the night! You can get the best of both worlds with the same piece.

Herve Leger Barbie

Before I head off to work, I just wanted to share that my store has its own Barbie! I thought it was too cute when I found this out. Out of all the designers, they pick Herve Leger to represent Barbie. The set comes with a Fall 2013 wardrobe of 2 signature bandage dresses, a black harness belt, gladiator boots and a gold and black clutch. It's actually really exciting to see what we have in the store on an actual Barbie. The Barbie is $150. Not too bad for Herve Leger. ;) Happy Friday everyone!!

Throwback Thursday: Moto Jacket

Every Thursday I'll be looking back at an outfit or piece I previously wore. This time it will be my beige moto jacket. I love a good moto jacket because they are classic and versatile for both men and women. I recently lost my favorite beige moto jacket from Express. It was edgy, but still went with my bow, sheer and ruffle detailing I adore. I am on a lookout for a similar one, so let me know if you find one. ;) Do you own a moto jacket? Let me know in the comments below and if you prefer a different style, post it.

Love,
Olivia <3

Here are pictures of me in Italy with my favorite moto jacket. I paired it with a white top, skinny jeans and black flats.
