Lakeshore Run

Today after work, I went for my first run in the city. My sister and I ran 6 miles on Lakeshore Drive. What a beautiful night view while you run! The weather was perfect tonight. I'm planning on enjoying these last summer nights. Over the weekend, we celebrated Mary Claire's birthday and explored the city. It feels good to finally be here!

I'm Home

I finally moved into my new apartment in Lakeview!! We moved in on Labor Day and it already feels like home. We are still in the process of decorating the place and moving more things from home (Algonquin). I have started commuting to work using CTA instead of my car and it's different, in a good way. I get a chance to read while I travel to work now. I'm excited for the start of something new. I'll be posting pictures of my decorated apartment soon. Cheers to the first weekend living in the city!

Outfit of the Night

Last night, I stayed at Mary Claire's house and we went out in the city. My outfit of the night was inspired by the colors of summer: orange and white flowy top, blue bow shorts and a white lace kimono that I borrowed from Mary Claire. I have been on the lookout for a good kimono and this was the perfect style to go out in. It makes an outfit more dressy than just a simple top with shorts and perfect for chilly summer nights. Working at Herve Leger has taught me so much about luxury fashion and creating a special connection with a client. I am transferring to another luxury retail store when I move to Chicago and am looking forward to making new connections!

Class in Session

Today I helped my sister decorate her 5th grade classroom. I always enjoy getting her room ready for a new school year. This year, she will continue teaching her 4th graders from last year to 5th grade and they have no idea! I'm sure her students will be really excited. I spent the rest of the day with Mary Claire. I'm moving into my apartment September 1 and I cannot be more excited! :)

Back to School

As my friends (including teacher friends) are starting their school year, it gets me thinking of first day of school outfits. I used to plan the "perfect" outfit a week or two before school started. Oh, how it has changed! I think it's fun to get excited about what to wear, but sometimes the best outfits are the ones that are spontaneous and unplanned. School is the best time to get to know your personal style before you have less options to experiment when you start your career. Good luck to all my friends starting a new school year!
